The penalties for a DUI conviction vary based on your criminal history and other factors. In general, possible penalties for conviction in Illinois are as follows:
- First offense. – For your first DUI conviction, your sentence may include up to one year in jail, a fine of up to $2,500, a license suspension of at least one year and/or installation of an ignition interlock device.
- Second offense.- For your second DUI conviction, your sentence may include up to one year in jail, a fine of up to $2,500, a license suspension of at least five years and/or installation of an ignition interlock device.
- Third offense. – For your third DUI conviction, your sentence may include up to seven years in jail, a fine of up to $2,500, a license suspension of at least ten years and/or installation of an ignition interlock device.
